The whole issue of god isn't that difficult to understand, other than people tend to make it difficult. My name is Glen & I'm 67 years old. I live in Kingston, Ont. I did attend church(United)pretty faithfully for the past 60 years until one day while reflecting on my life I realised that christianity & the major religions of the world are mostly, just hocus-pocus. Religion is, as Karl Marx said: "The opiate of the masses!" It's the system that the world has developed to control humans. Not that this is a bad thing as there are some redeeming values to religion that do make it worthwhile. Religion does meet a lot of social needs through good-will projects and day-to-day socializing. It has been said that: "If religion was to be dropped from our societies that our governments would go broke trying to meet the financial responsibilities that the churches now fulfill." Religion seems to be necessary in our world to keep some sort of sanity in the whole mess. I don't know how you could get rid of it and its attending gods. But, I do know that eventually man-kind will mature to the point where it will be able to function, perfectly well, without gods. |
